Like most food writers, I get really excited about discovering new food products that my family loves. And when those tasty treats also work in a variety of recipes in my kitchen, I consider that to be a major win. So when I started seeing all of the things people were using Great Value freeze-dried strawberry fruit crisps for on social media, I knew I had to pick up a bag on my next shopping trip to Walmart.

As a frequent Walmart shopper, I’ve found its Great Value brand to include high-quality products that really help me stay within the grocery budget I’ve set for my family of four. At just under $4 for a one-ounce bag of freeze-dried strawberries, I was excited by both its affordability and its possible uses.

These freeze-dried strawberry crisps have quickly become a favorite sweet treat in my home. While I could make them at home, they’ve become a product I order almost weekly when I place a Walmart+ grocery delivery order.

Not your typical dessert food, these strawberries contain no-added-sugar and pack five grams of fiber per serving. According to the nutritional label, they also contain a bit of iron, potassium, and calcium. I’m a big fan of any dessert that isn’t super sugary, so these delightful little freeze-dried strawberry bites have become something I try to work into all sorts of desserts and snacks in my kitchen.

The crisps are light and airy and have the flavor of sweet, ripe strawberries without being too tart. Whether I throw them into an at-home version of a Pink Drink or an ice cream pie around them, I’ve never been disappointed with a single way I’ve used them.

They’re crunchy and light and perfect for all kinds of sweet snacks. Other ways I love to enjoy these crispy, sweet, dried strawberries are mixed with a handful of cashews and dark chocolate chips or sprinkled over vanilla ice cream with a bit of chocolate syrup. My family love to use them as an ice cream topper or part of a yogurt parfait. You can even use ground freeze-dried fruit like strawberries as natural food coloring!

Next time you’re shopping the grocery aisles of Walmart or placing a grocery order in the Walmart app, grab these inexpensive freeze-dried strawberry slices. The possibilities for what to use them for are endless and they’re so affordable, you won’t regret bringing them home with you.
